The long, long road to Ojochal

Everyone who has been to Nicaragua with us will also know Ojochal. This is a small community about 10 km outside of San Juan del Sur. Much of the year, the road there is okay. Not great, but at least passable. However, it seems that every October, the river rises and the road is gone. This cuts off not only Ojochal but also Miravalle. People living there who work in  San Juan del Sur have very few options at that time. They can not show up for work or they can try to cross the river. The same goes for medical emergencies, high school, etc. A bridge would be really great!! Ojochal road floods again

Dear Supporters- it is with with regret, but also satisfaction about our achievements that we have decided that it time to close the Nicaragua Children’s Foundation.

Political instability in Nicaragua has made it increasingly difficult to deliver programs and services on the ground. We have managed to do so on a reduced scale for the last few years but the situation has worsened and continued meaningful operations is no longer an option.

We would like to express our deep appreciation to the many friends, supporters, volunteers and contributors
who have worked closely with us over the years.  None of this would have been possible without you.

Finally a huge gracias to our dear friend and and Nicaragua agent Veronica and to all of our friends and supporters in Nicaragua. We have learned so much from you all.
