The new classroom is finished!

Our new classroom is finally done! The ceramic tile floor was the last thing to be installed. It's now painted in  (what else?) turquoise, seen everywhere in Nicaragua. The teachers and students were very happy to be able to hold the end-of-year graduation here.

For those of you who might not be aware of what we've been up to this past year, these pictures are of a new double-sized classroom that we had built for the town elementary school, San Francisco de Asis. We began construction in February 2011, and although we didn't have all the money we needed to finish the project at the time, the local people told us that we should start anyway and it would work out somehow. And they were right!

Thanks to everyone who helped make this classroom possible.

Dear Supporters- it is with with regret, but also satisfaction about our achievements that we have decided that it time to close the Nicaragua Children’s Foundation.

Political instability in Nicaragua has made it increasingly difficult to deliver programs and services on the ground. We have managed to do so on a reduced scale for the last few years but the situation has worsened and continued meaningful operations is no longer an option.

We would like to express our deep appreciation to the many friends, supporters, volunteers and contributors
who have worked closely with us over the years.  None of this would have been possible without you.

Finally a huge gracias to our dear friend and and Nicaragua agent Veronica and to all of our friends and supporters in Nicaragua. We have learned so much from you all.
